What is a body reset cleanse? The word cleanse has different meanings to different people. There are about a million different kinds of cleanses out there. And, some have received negative heat in the diet culture over the years. But at the heart of it, my 14-day cleanse is a total body reset. It’s about eating whole foods. It’s an opportunity to reduce the amount of stimulants that your body is coming into contact with so that you can pave the way to discover the ideal way of eating for your lifestyle and goals. This cleanse is a invitation to become more mindful, build awareness and tap into consistent self-care practices. You will be surprised how much insight you will get about your body in 14 days!

Does 14 days sound like a lot? Don’t fret my dear. My cleanse is set up so there’s a couple days of pre-cleanse prep, followed by 7 days of the actual cleanse. Finally, you’ll spend the next 5 days reintroducing the foods that you eliminated. Or not - if you decide to keep something out of your life, like I did.

I recently did this cleanse with a group of fellow health coaches. The past year has really derailed my healthy eating lifestyle. Prior to my mom’s first stroke, I had been wheat-free for about 6 years. I experienced a plethora (shout out to the Three Amigos movie) of benefits when I removed wheat from my diet. Better skin, better hair, better sleep, my sinuses instantly cleared up (this was THE ONE THING that made it worth it for me), no more migraines, my digestive system improved, and I lost about 20 pounds over several months. After my mom’s strokes, it all went to hell! With spending time at the hospital, nursing homes and helping her once she was out, self-care went out the window. I struggled to be a good daughter, a good wife and a good mom. I couldn’t seem to balance life at all. I no longer planned meals and wasn’t thoughtful about when, where, what and how I ate. The results? I put on some weight, sleep evaded me, my stomach HATED me and my skin was awful. So. Many. Pimples.

I jumped at the opportunity to join this cleanse as a way to kick-off getting back into healthy eating. And I am so glad I did. It honestly reversed all those awful results of my year of poor habits. Well, I didn’t exactly reverse the weight gain...YET. But I lost 6 lbs during the cleanse and continue to see the scale drop as I’ve decided to keep wheat and sugar out of my diet. I’ve also decided to limit my dairy intake and so my stomach is no longer angry at me. My two favorite benefits of the cleanse are: improved sleep and amazing skin. My acne cleared up by the end of the week!
